With the Skoda Fabia of Pavel Group, champions of the “over 55” for the third consecutive year, they obtained the passport to access the single final that will be held this weekend at the Rally della Lanterna in Genoa.

On the horizon, already clear, for TOP GEAR TEAM there is the single final of the Coppa Italia Rally, which the Pistoia brand will compete in with the brothers Davide and Andrea Giordano, the “over 55” champions of zone 7 who, this weekend will be busy at the 40th Rally della Lanterna in Genoa, a race with a long tradition, where they will compete for the category title with the best “colleagues” in Italy, qualified in other areas of the geography of Italian rallying.

The ACN Police Force standard-bearers are fresh from their category victory confirmed a month ago in Pistoia, where they also achieved a hat-trick of consecutive victories, and are setting off on their final seasonal adventure with the Michelin-shod Skoda Fabia R5 “evo” made available by Pavel Group.

The Giordano brothers have participated, in the past, in only one edition of the Coppa Italia final for the Over 55 category, in 2002, coming in second place. A “silver” medal that will be the starting point for going to compete in the Genoa race, which they have never run.

DAVIDE GIORDANO: “We have arrived at the final showdown, the unique final with which the entire season of “eliminaries” held in zone 7 is played out, to try to win the title against opponents from all over Italy. Two years ago, the only time we ran the final, it went really well, second, but it was very tough, I don't think this edition of the final will be any less. I don't know the opponents, we still don't know who signed up, I don't even know the special tests, which I've never run, it will be a new scenario that, they tell me, is very technical and selective. We will have to really sweat to get on the podium, we will certainly have to do “overtime”. But it's also nice like this, it will certainly be a stimulating challenge and we hope to bring something important to Pistoia, to Tuscany”.

Engines on Saturday 9 November, a “hot” day that will see the protagonists engaged in the shakedown from the morning (8 am to 2 pm). At 3:30 pm the starting ceremony will be held in the historic location of Piazza della Vittoria in Genoa, with the competitors who will immediately go to face the first and new special test “Sant'Eusebio”, followed by the “Laccio”, which returns to the delight of the spectators ready to greet the crews with their warm cheers in the legendary passage under the overpass. In the evening, starting at 6:50 pm, the cars will return to Piazza della Vittoria for the night regrouping, while on Sunday 10 November, from 7:30 am, they will set off again inland to face three “monument” special tests for the Rally della Lanterna: “Portello”, “Brugneto” and “Massimo Canevari”. The last two are taken from the old route of the “Massimo Canevari”, which measured about 30 km. The tour will be repeated twice, before the arrival, scheduled for 4.50 pm under the Arch of Piazza della Vittoria.
