Over 30 drivers ready to challenge each other in the penultimate round of the Italian F.4 Championship in Barcelona with Magigas fuel
All set for the Catalan round of the Italian F.4 Championship, the sixth and penultimate event of the season. Over 30 drivers, from 24 nations and belonging to 10 different teams, will compete in the three races of the weekend.
The overall standings see Freddie Slater leading with 265 points. The British talent from Prema Racing, with 11 victories already under his belt, could close the championship early in Spain. His main rival is the Japanese Hiyu Yamakoshi, driver of Van Amersfoort Racing, who follows him with 179 points, with 2 victories obtained in Imola and a solid consistency in the placings. In third position is Akshay Bohra, the American-Indian from US Racing, with 174 points. Bohra has been on the podium 6 times this year, obtaining his first victory of the season in the first race at Le Castellet.
Further back in the standings, but still in the running for the title, are Australian Jack Beeton of US Racing and Mercedes junior Alex Powell of Prema Racing, with 140 and 138 points respectively. Powell also dominates the Rookie Trophy standings with 260 points, followed by teammate Tomass Stolcermanis with 236 and Japanese driver Kean Nakamura-Berta with 222.
The Team Trophy is also still open, with Prema Racing leading with 546 points, followed by US Racing with 354.
The lineups in Barcelona
There will be 33 drivers on the grid at the Barcelona circuit, ready to compete in the three 30-minute + 1-lap races. Among the new features of the weekend, the debut of the Ukrainian driver Oleksandr Bondarev, a young promise from the Williams Racing Driver Academy, who joins Prema Racing in this round, stands out. The Ukrainian will be in the seventh car of the Vicenza-based team, alongside Freddie Slater, Alex Powell, Kean Nakamura-Berta, Tomass Stolcermanis, Rashid Al Dhaheri and Dion Gowda.
Among the new names at the start there will also be Hudson Schwartz, a 15-year-old American driver who will defend the colors of Van Amersfoort Racing. The Dutch team will also include the combative Hiyu Yamakoshi, Andrija Kostic, Gustav Jonsson and Lin Hodenius. US Racing will field six drivers: Akshay Bohra, Jack Beeton, Gianmarco Pradel, Kabir Anurag, Maxim Rehm and Edward Robinson. PHM AIX Racing will be present with Davide Larini, Everett Stack and Maksimilian Popov, while AKM Motorsport will field Emanuele Olivieri, Wiktor Dobrzanski and Oleksandr Savinkov. The Swiss team Jenzer Motorsport will rely on Ethan Ischer, Eney Frey and Reno Francot, while the French team R-ace GP will have Taipei driver Enzo Yeh and Finnish driver Luka Sammalisto on the track. A duo of drivers also for the Swiss team Maffi Racing, represented by the Venezuelan Gabriel Holguin and the Swiss Nathaniel Berreby. A single representative on the track for Real Racing, which fields the Romanian driver Luca Viisoreanu, as well as for the Italian team Cram Motorsport, which brings the Indian driver Kai Daryanani to the race.
The weekend program
The Catalan weekend will begin on Friday 27 September with two 40-minute free practice sessions: the first at 11.54 and the second at 17.21. Qualifying will take place on Saturday 28 September, split into two 15-minute sessions, at 9.00 and 9.25. The first race will start at 12.40. The last two races will be on Sunday 29 September: Race 2 at 11.10 and Race 3 at 17.20.
The weekend's three races, all lasting 30 minutes + 1 lap, will be broadcast live on the Italian F.4 Championship YouTube and Facebook channels, on ACI Sport TV (Sky channel 228, Tivù Sat channel 52 and streaming on www.acisport.it), as well as on international platforms, including DAZN.
