The ACI motoring weekend returns to Tuscany, with over 170 cars ready to hit the track -- with MAGIGAS petrol
Scarperia and San Piero (FI), Friday 23 August 2024 - It is the second stage at the Mugello Circuit for the circus of the Italian four-wheel Championships, which return to put on a show on the Tuscan track after the weekend held in mid-July. Another weekend of intense entertainment, with over 170 cars ready to challenge each other in 6 different categories in a total of 14 races, with the Italian Gran Turismo Sprint Championship (GT3 and GT Cup), the seasonal debut of the Euro 4 Championship and the Italian Historic Car Circuit Speed Championship. The challenges will also be exciting in the ATCC / GTX, the Zinox F2000 Trophy and the Mini Challenge. The Scarperia circuit will be raced in memory of Luca Persiani, driver and coach driver who tragically passed away a few days ago.
After the summer break, the Sprint series of the Italian Gran Turismo Championship resumes on the demanding Mugello track with 49 crews registered for the third act of the season. With two wins out of four races held in the GT3 class, the VSR drivers Michelotto-Stadsbader (Lamborghini Huracan GT3) are in the lead, with a nine-point advantage in the general standings over Delli Guanti-Mazzola (Audi R8 LMS) and 15 over Jens Klingmann (BMW M4 GT3), once again joined at Mugello by Max Hesse. The standings of the class reserved for single-make configuration cars are also still to be defined. In the 1st Division, there is a head-to-head in the PRO-AM between the two Lamborghini Huracan ST of cousins Giacomo and Matteo Pollini (Giacomo Race) and Tribaudini-Zanon (VSR) who are chasing by four points, while in the AM the leaders Casè-Borelli (Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo2) precede Oliva-D'Auria (Lamborghini Huracan ST) by just two points. In the 2nd Division reserved for the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, all the protagonists of the first two events will be in the game, starting with the leaders of the Pro-Am, Palma-Navatta (Raptor Engineering) and the leaders of the AM, Polverini-Liana (ZRS Motorsport).
The Euro 4 Championship 2024 kicks off at the Mugello Circuit. After the success of the first edition, the Formula 4 series organized by ACI Sport and WSK Promotion is back on track, divided into three rounds that will take place in parallel with the Italian championship. The first appointment will be held on the prestigious Tuscan circuit, where 29 drivers from 20 different nations will battle it out in the first three races of the season. After the triumph of Ugo Ugochukwu in the inaugural edition, the baton is ready to be passed to crown one of the many talents already emerged in the Italian F.4 or among the new faces of the Euro 4 Championship.
The classic cars of the Italian Historic Car Circuit Speed Championship (CIVCA) return to the track for the 4th of 7 rounds of the season at the ACI Racing Weekend in Mugello. We are heading towards the second half of the season with the rankings starting to take shape, but the challenges remain open and uncertain. In the 1st Group, Fulvio Luca Bressan on BMW 1600 TI defends the leadership gained in the first races. The 2nd Group sees the Porsche 911 3.0 of Massimiliano Lodi in command, rewarded by consistency and speed. In the 3rd Group, the award-winning duo Massimo Ronconi - Giovanni Gulinelli is dominating with the Porsche 930, expertly pushing the powerful car to the maximum. Finally, in the 4th Group, Enrico Gerardi and Maurizio Sardellitti are dictating the pace, at the wheel of the Ford Sierra Cosworth.
